HP Mini 110 Series 110-3733TU Review

Typing, handling and the physicality are great on this one from the HP Mini stable in the 110 series . Well, what else are you looking for? It's a netbook and means and works exactly as what the primary specifications say. Speed Processor remains the same - Intel Atom Dual Core 1.66 GHz, but the 2GB RAM with a upped 1333MHz one, so easily outperforms others in the class. Not that you should make it your primary PC or depend on it for all your computing needs. Let's not touch on the specification, they are everywhere on the Internet. I'll just write what I came across while using the HP 110-3733TU. If I buy it, the first thing I'll do is get rid of the nursery standard OS and get something which is easy on the resources. I had installed Windows VISTA Beta version with a dual boot option so that I could alternatively use my Windows XP. To my horror, just after two days I was unable to boot into my Windows XP partition. The only thing I had transferred was my TCP/ IP settings. However, I had copied the data from the My Documents folder to a different drive. The next obvious thing I tried was to reinstall Windows XP. I was in a for a shock: I was unable to boot from my XP CD. What actually happens is that after loading VISTA, the MBR is written as of VISTA's and hence you cannot boot from the XP CD. I tried several other things, but I failed. I tried to boot from the Windows 2003 Server Edition CD. It was successful but however, I could not install in the partition that VISTA used.
